| winterizing Monsun (Richard van Heijst (M298)) | 2010-07-19 20:14:18 | | Although it is summer my questions concerns winterizing. The point of concern are all the hoses to drain water from the deck and the cockpit. When leaving my boat in the water (fresh water) the water in those hoses could freeze and burst the hose or the copper joints with all negative consequences. What are the tricks of other owners? Can you help me with idea's? |

I would recomend you to pour antifreez licuid in al the hoses and let they stay open. You must also let the engine salt coolwater system mix with antifreez. Dismount the house goin in to the engine in the keel room, alow it to suck antifreez mix from a bucket..be sure its enough. The drinking water system must also be conserved with spesial antifreez made for drinking water systems. Al this depends on how cold the winther will be...in Norway it was down to -25c* we also had our boat in a boble harbour and with a heat bolb in the engine room. I would not recommend the boat to freez in to the ice. Good luck..... |
